Kids on Mullum Child Care Centre - Junior Kinder

3 to 4 years

Our 3-year-old kindergarten room can have 33 children per day and follows a one educator to 11 children ratio. The Junior Kinder room program is led by 1 qualified early childhood teacher and is assisted by qualified early childhood educators.

Our Kindergarten Program

Our 3-year-old kindergarten program runs all day from Monday to Friday. Children must attend a 3-year-old funded kindergarten for at least 5 hours per week to qualify as a funded child, so children would need to be enrolled for at least 1 day. The child needs to be turning three by April 30th of their 3-year-old kindergarten year. Families are welcome to decide which day/s they would like their child to attend kinder (pending availability).

Our Kindergarten program focuses on growing self-confidence, problem-solving skills, self-esteem, skill development and independence. The Junior Kinder team provides children with interesting and engaging activities which are designed to enhance understanding and learning in all areas. The routine is relaxed, flexible and allows for both spontaneous and planned experiences. Children are provided with interesting, aesthetically-pleasing and engaging activities throughout the indoor and outdoor environments. Activities are designed to provide concepts that enhance understanding and learning in areas of literacy, maths, science, music, environment and creativity.

Outdoors, children have access to sustainable experiences as well as areas to run, explore and engage in quiet, solitary play. Educators provide many small and whole group experiences, both indoors and out, to encourage cooperation and build on social skills such as turn taking and sharing.

There are core daily routine times for meals and sleep, but children still have the opportunity to lead the routine and rest when they are tired. Educators can help families with all stages of toilet training. Even though the children are now in Junior Kinder, they are still exposed to all of the benefits of being in a childcare centre environment such as catered meals and the opportunity to mix with children of all ages.
